Takeda, Lilly Ordered to Pay $9B in Actos Case

Takeda accused of failing to warn users of cancer risk

A federal jury in Lafayette, LA has reached a verdict in a lawsuit accusing Takeda of failing to warn users about research that linked the diabetes drug Actos to an increased risk of bladder cancer.   Takeda was ordered to pay $6 billion in punitive damages and its partner Eli Lilly & Co. was ordered to pay $3 billion.
